Mash to lead Strikers in upcoming BPL 

Mashrafee bin Mortaza is all set to lead Sylhet Sixers in the forthcoming Bangladesh Premier League, country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament, scheduled from January.

Sixers began their practice session without their inspirational leader at the BCB academy premises on Wednesday and it raised speculation regarding the future of Mashrafee as captain of Sylhet.  

Strikers are yet to announce their skipper for the tournament and their decision to send Mohammad Mithun in the official captain’s photo shoot only ignited speculation before Striker management cleared the air through a media announcement.

“Sylhet Strikers management has named Mashrafe bin Mortaza as the captain for BPL T20 2024,” said Strikers in the media announcement.

“Mohammad Mithun is the vice-captain,” it added.

Mashrafee arrived in the evening to join his team mates and spent some time cracking jokes with them while he was welcomed with open arms by none other than his find Nazmul Hossain, who was backed heavily by Mashrafee in the last BPL.

Mashrafee faith literally changed the batting of Shanto considering following the BPL he is carrying a superlative form. 

The former captain was absent from cricketing action due to his busy schedule in the national election while his leg injury is a matter of concern.

The 10th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 is set to kick off on January 19 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur with a high-voltage encounter between the star-studded Comilla Victorians and Durdanto Dhaka. 

Strikers will take on Chattogram Riders in the second game of the opening day of BPL.
