BPL clashes with BPL- Cutting on lack of Australians

Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting said on Wednesday that they cannot come here and play Bangladesh Premier League considering it clashes with Big Bash.

Earlier, David Warner, Steve Smith, Brad Hodge, Shaun Tait have played in BPL. But now Australian cricketers are not available that much in BPL. Cutting is the only Australian to play BPL as he is not part of BBL.

“It’s a pretty simple reason. To be fair, it clashes with the big bash in Australia. Obviously there’s not too many Australians outside of myself that are playing primarily overseas as freelance cricketers,” Cutting told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.

“There’s probably one or two of us to be fair and the other one is Chris Lynn. He’s playing big Bash so that’s the sole reason. I’m sure a lot of guys would love to get over here and play BPL and sample the BPL, particularly in the old window when it was later in the year before Big Bash. It’s just the window that hurts it at the moment,” he said, adding that he is looking forward to entertain the crowds with big sixes.

“It’s tough to comment on results before we’ve played a game. We’ve got our first training session as a full squad today, which is exciting. I get to meet all the guys, but I’m looking forward to getting out there on Friday night,” he said.

“I’ve heard a lot about this wicket. I heard it’s a pretty good surface to play on. So obviously a couple of games here, then we go to Sylhet and play in front of our home crowd, which you want to get five wins out of five in front of your home crowd. That’ll dictate our wins and our losses for the rest of the tournament,” he said

“I hope you can expect the few sixes. I’m looking forward to getting out there with the bat and the ball and having a good couple of games with the guys” he added.
