Brown Joins BPL, Malik Departs
Chattogram Challenger boosted their strength as they have signed Australian batter Josh Brown ahead of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament.
The Australian, who scored a century in the playoffs and a fifty in the final of the Big Bash League to help Brisbane Heat clinch the trophy, will arrive on January 25.
Challengers are added that they are glad to welcome Tom Bruce and Mohammad Hasnain to Bangladesh, who arrived on January 25 and will be heading to Sylhet soon to join the team for the Sylhet phase of the BPL, scheduled from January 26.
Bruce is a batter from New Zealand, who has played 17 T20Is for the Blackcaps while Hasnain is a pacer from Pakistan, featuring for the national team in nine ODIs and 27 T20Is.
Meanwhile, Fortune Barisal received double blow ahead of the Sylhet phase as their all-rounder Shoaib Malik left the tournament while Ibrahim Zadran headed for national duty.
Malik, who failed to impress in the year’s BPL as he appeared in three matches for Barishal and scored 17, 5 and 7 runs respectively, and took only one wicket, had flown to Dubai after the end of the Dhaka phase and was expected to join the team on February 6th.
However, it was revealed that he would not take part in the tournament anymore while Fortune, who are currently placed in fifth position after two defeats and a solitary win in the ongoing tournament,is expected to replace him with Ahmed Shehzad.
