Junior Tigress Lost To Sri Lanka in Tri-Nation Final

Hosts Bangladesh U-19 women’s team suffered a 36-run defeat to Sri Lanka U-19 women’s team in the final match of the ongoing Women’s U-19 Tri Nation T20 Series at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Friday.

The hosts, who earlier reached the final with an all-win record beating Sri Lanka by five-wicket and one-run, Pakistan by 36-run and 4-wicket in the round robin group stage, conceded the lone defeat of the competition on this day.

Earlier on Friday, electing to bat first, Sri Lankan openers Nethmi Poorna Senarathna and Wijerathne laid a solid foundation of 104-run partnership for their side.

Senarathna remained unbeaten at 66 off 57 balls while Wijerathne scored 49 runs as Sri Lanka U-19s posted a decent 148-3 in the regulated 20 overs.

In reply, Bangladesh were reduced to 23-4  before Rabeya (31) and Unnoti Akter (14) put up a 40-run stand for the fifth wicket.

After their batter departure in quick succession, Bangladesh struggled again and were able to score only 112-8 in the 20 overs.

Dewmi Vihanga Wijerathne finished with 3-13 while Rismi Sanjana and Yasanthi Nimanthika Madushani Herath took two wickets each for Sri Lanka
