Dhaka Touch A Rare Feat In T20s
Durdanto Dhaka achieved a rare feat in T20 cricket as they became the first franchise to suffer 11 consecutive defeats – the most by any franchise in the T20 events worldwide.
Dhaka also ended their campaign in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 with a 10-run defeat against hosts Chattogram Challengers at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Saturday night.
With the day’s win, Chattogram moved to the fourth position in the seven-team point table with 12 points from 11 games.
Electing to bat first, Chattogram opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim struck 70 off 51 balls while Tom Bruce made 48 off 35 balls as the host side posed 159-6 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Dhaka’s pacemen Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed took two wickets each.
In response, Dhaka lost the wickets of Adam Rossington (one) and Sabbir Hossain (0). Mohammad Naim and Alex Ross then made a partnership of 51 runs for the third wicket stand.
Shohidul finally ended the dogged partnership as he removed Naim on 29, but Ross continued with the bat and scored 55 off 44 balls.
Dhaka captain Mosaddek Hossain scored an unbeaten 30 off 18 balls.
Dhaka lost the match as they could score 149-5 in the regulated 20 overs.
Shuvagata Hom took 2-12 for Chattogram.
