Shakib Won’t Need Eye Operation Now – BCB
Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Wednesday that premier all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will not require any surgery at the moment for his eye problem.
“He will be doing conservative treatment for the next two weeks for his eyes and later if that doesn’t work out he might have to go for procedure and he can even play while going through conservative treatment,” a BCB official confirmed on Wednesday.
Shakib scored just two runs against Fortune Barisal before was bowled by Khaled Ahmed in their opening game of the ongoing BPL but showcased his bowling prowess by claiming 2 wickets for 16 runs in four overs.
Shakib missed first-phase matches of Bangladesh Premier League, scheduled in Dhaka, after the opening game he left for Singapore on January 21 to have an eye check-up his eye problem recurred.
Many felt Shakib might require operation to fix his eye problem and if that was the case his participation in Bangladesh Premier League could have been in doubt but it was learnt that he is not required to go under the knife as he will be doing conservative treatment for the next two weeks.
Earlier, it was reported Shakib had eye issue during the ICC World Cup, while in the recent past he went to London to have a check up before returning to Dhaka on January 18 and later going to Singapore for a second opinion.
The all-rounder is scheduled to arrive on January 24 but many feels it can be changed if he wants to have another opinion.
