I Have 45 Percent Ligament Tear – Taskin On Reason Behind Test Retirement
Bangladesh pace bowler Taskin Ahmed said that he wanted Bangladesh Cricket Board not to consider him as he is carrying 45 percent tear in shoulder ligaments.
The pacer have submitted a letter to the board where he insisted that he is not ready to continue red-ball cricket as he wants to concentrate on white-ball cricket.
“I had a 45% ligament tear in my in my shoulder as that was found on the last MRI report which was done during the World Cup,” Taskin told reporters when his attention was drawn whether he is not ready to continue Test cricket.
“I still have to manage that and play and if the tear increases even a little bit then surgery will be mandatory and in that case I have to stay out of action for 8 months to a year if I have to go under the knife,” he said.
“After that I have to also consider the factor of my rhythm and that is why I let the board know that if I can be rested from the longer version then my shoulder can be protected for longer,” he said.
“If it improves then I will try (to play Test cricket. That is why I had told them (the board) to not consider me for the longest format for now and the medical board and everyone else here has evidence and there is nothing to hide,” he added.
Taskin suffered a tear in his shoulder during the World Cup, which forced him to miss a couple of matches in the global event, played in India last year.
Following the tournament, Taskin was sent to a rehabilitation program to regain full fitness and start competitive cricket again. As a result he missed the two-match Test series at home against New Zealand and the white-ball return tour that followed soon after.
