BCB Appoints Gazi Ashraf As Chief Selector
Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Monday that they have made change in the national selection panel by appointing former national captain Gazi Ashraf Hossain as the chief selector for next two years.
Ashraf, who worked in different capacities, replaced Minhajul Abedin as chief selector while Habibul Bashar, who was his long time member of the selection panel also failed to retain their place in the selection panel.
Nazmul said that only Abdur Razzak was retained from the previous selection panel while along with Ashraf and Razzak third selectors role will be filled by Hannan Sarkar.
“After all the discussion, we have selected Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu as the chief selector….Usually the contract is for two years. Khan Abdur Razzak and Hannan Sarkar will be the other two selectors,” said Nazmul adding that Minhajul and Bashar will work in the board in different capacities.
“Of course, the board appreciated their contribution to the team. We decided to keep them on the board in different capacities.
Meanwhile, country’s first ODI captain Lipu is a former BCB director. He also served as a team manager during Bangladesh’s first World Cup appearance in 1999.
