Khulna Tigers Secure Dominant 10-Wicket Victory Over Dhaka in BPL 2024

In a dominant display at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the Khulna Tigers secured a convincing 10-wicket victory over Durdanto Dhaka in a match that marked only the fourth such win in the history of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Sunday in Sylhet.

Opting to bat first, Durdanto Dhaka managed to score a total of 130 for 9 in their designated 20 overs, featuring a steady 35 from Saim Ayub and a notable 41 from Mohammad Naim.

However, a collaborative effort from the Khulna Tigers’ bowlers, led by Mohammad Nawaz who took three wickets, restrained Dhaka from gaining momentum. The middle order faced challenges, concluding their innings with a modest run rate of 6.50.

In reply, the openers of Khulna Tigers, led by Anamul Haque, showcased remarkable batting skills. Anamul’s unbeaten 58 off 48 deliveries, featuring 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, combined with Afif Hossain’s brisk 37 off 27, ensured a swift pursuit.

Evin Lewis, who retired hurt after contributing 26 runs, had already set a positive tone for Khulna Tigers. While achieving the target, Khulna Tigers did not lose a wicket, securing a 10-wicket victory with 32 balls to spare.

The bowlers of Durdanto Dhaka faced challenges in breaking through the solid batting display of Khulna Tigers, as none of them succeeded in taking a wicket. Taskin Ahmed, Mosaddek Hossain, and Saim Ayub were among those who struggled to make a breakthrough.

With this triumph, Khulna Tigers displaced Chattogram Challengers from the summit of the points table. The Challengers had claimed the top position with a victory over Sylhet Strikers in the initial match of the same day.
