Mushtaq Ahmed Is Now Bangladesh’s Spin Bowling Coach
The former Pakistani spin bowler and legendary figure, Mushtaq Ahmed has been appointed as the new Bangladesh men’s cricket team spin bowling coach. He will replace another legendary figure from South Asia, Rangana Herath, and take charge of the team from the Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe series next month. As Bangladesh’s new spin bowling coach, the former Pakistani World Cup winner will bring all his experience to the team. He will be with the Tigers till the next ICC T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be held in the United States and the West Indies this June.
Mushtaq steps in for Rangana Herath, as the BCB did not renew its contract with him after the completion of the test series against New Zealand last year. Mushtaq is looking to work with the Bangladesh boys as they get ready for the upcoming T20 series against Zimbabwe.
Will Mushtaq Be Able to Leave His Mark?
Mushtaq Ahmed’s arrival in Bangladesh’s cricket scene has everyone buzzing: does he have the ability to immerse himself in the role of spin bowling coach to the level in which he can dramatically change the team dynamics for the better? Well, in terms of his role as a coach, his CV clearly demonstrates all his previous experiences and proven results that make it possible to admit he is unique.
Jalal Yunus, BCB cricket operations’ chairman, believes that Mushtaq is the person who can boost Bangladeshi spinners’ confidence and performance dynamically. He’s the one who can give guidance to the young ones to enhance the future developments of the spin bowling department.
On the other hand, cricket expert Nazmul Abedeen Fahim tries to burst the bubble by emphasizing that appointments of past coaches haven’t equated the performances of players. Nonetheless, the guarded approach is evident, but BCB is optimistic Mushtaq will be able to come up with something good.

Bangladesh’s Recent Spin Bowling Coaches
Let’s look more closely at the spin bowling coaches who have helped Bangladesh’s spinners get where they are now in cricket.
Rangana Herath
Rangana Herath is known around the world as one of the best left-arm spin bowlers in cricket, and fans of the game love him for it. Even though he only coached Bangladesh’s spin bowlers for a short time before their 2021 game against Sri Lanka, his knowledge was felt.
Herath hasn’t played international cricket since 2018, yet he is still making a difference as a coach and mentor, showing how dedicated he is to helping young spin bowlers grow. His impact goes beyond the field; he is working to shape the future of cricket through his important work with teaching and mentoring programs.
Sunil Joshi
An Indian cricket player by birth, Sunil Joshi became Bangladesh’s spin bowling coach in 2017. He had a big effect on the team’s spin bowling. Rising stars like Mehidy Hasan did very well with his help, showing huge improvements in their skills on the field.
Joshi’s move to coach the Uttar Pradesh cricket team in India shows that he wants to teach the next crop of cricketers and pass on his spin bowling knowledge. Maintaining his commitment to teaching shows how much he loves the sport and wants to help it grow at the youth level.
Saqlain Mushtaq
Saqlain Mushtaq, who was known for being a great spin bowler, made a big difference as Bangladesh’s spin bowling coach for a short time. Even though he was only teaching for a short time, players like Taijul Islam got better on the field because of him.
While Saqlain isn’t coaching right now, his love for cricket still shines through as he actively participates in talks about the game and shares useful information with coaches and players all over the world. Because he loved cricket so much and was ready to teach others, he left a lasting mark on cricket.
Daniel Vettori

The players seem extremely happy with the decision of BCB and excited to work with Mushtaq Ahmed to make a difference.
However, Mushtaq is not a magic through which a dramatic change will be brought. What will be valuable for the Bangladeshi spinners is his experience and playing ground tips to do better in the field. In the end, that is what the Bangladeshis would want to celebrate.
