Junior Tigers Face Nepal in ICC World Cup Super Six

Bangladesh men’s U-19 national team will face Nepal men’s U-19 national team in their first match of ongoing ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup 2024 Super Six Group 1 match at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, South Africa on Wednesday. 

The Super Six round of this ongoing meet began on Tuesday with three matches between — India vs New Zealand, Sri Lanka vs West Indies and Ireland vs Pakistan. 

The matches were going on when this report was written.

However, Bangladesh reached in this round as the runner-up of four-team Group A. They lost to India by 84-run in the opening match, but made a good comeback beating Ireland and USA by 6-wickets and 121-run respectively. 

On the other hand, Nepal reached here as the Group D third-placed team. They lost to New Zealand by 64-run and Pakistan 5-wicket, but beat Afghanistan by one-wicket. 

Meanwhile, they face Group D champion Pakistan men’s U-19 national team in their last game of this round on Saturday (3 February) at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni. 

The junior Tigers have to win both matches to qualify for the last four of the ongoing tournament as they are currently placed fourth in the six-team Group 1 with two points. 

However, the top three teams in Groups A and D combine, as well as the top three sides in Groups B and C, creating two groups of six where the top two sides in each will progress to the semifinals.

Teams carry points, wins and net run rate earned against their fellow qualifying teams into their respective Super Six groups, and will each play two further matches before the semifinalists are determined
