I Found It Hard To Play In This Kind Of Wicket – Tector 

Irish all-rounder Harry Tector said on Friday that playing in different franchise-league is helping Irish cricket grow as a cricketing nation.

Tector along with few other Irish cricketers are playing in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournament while some of his team mates are currently playing in the other franchise leagues as well that includes SAT20 and ILT20.

 “It helps massively just to have Irish players playing in franchise cricket, obviously here in Bangladesh, and then Josh Little in the ILT20. Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker, they didn’t play, but they’re in South Africa.,” Tector told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium after guiding Sylhet Strikers to their third win in the tournament with his cautious fifty.

“So, it is just great for us and I guess we’re just really grateful to be here and to be playing a good standard of cricket,” he said.

“And you know, every time you play in new conditions, in a new team, it’s all learning and even if it’s not necessarily going well for you personally. You’re always learning and you can bring back to the Irish environment and hopefully provide that experience to the players around you,” he said. 

“I mean it’s great. We play Bangladesh a lot, we come here a lot. It’s just an experience and I’ve loved it so far,” he said, adding that he found it hard to adapt in Bangladeshi conditions. 

“To be honest, I don’t really like playing like that. I don’t like that sort of innings. And I found it quite hard. I found batting here quite hard. Generally in this tournament, I found the wickets quite difficult,” he said.

“But nice to, I guess, spend a bit of time in the middle and feel the ball in the middle of the bat. Obviously, I’ve opened in the last three games. That’s something I’ve never done in my life, not since I was like 10 years old. So, finding that challenging but exciting at the same time. And yeah, I guess today was rewarding to help the team get over the line,” he concluded.
