Shakib Is Still Struggling – Nurul
Rangpur Riders skipper Nurul Hasan said on Shakib al Hasan is struggling with his eyes issues as he made a return to competitive cricket after a gap.
Tamim’s Fortune Barishal beat Shakib’s Rangpur Riders by five wickets in their Bangladesh Premier League campaign opener at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.
Shakib looked to be a pale shadow of his own self as far as his batting was concerned making two runs in three balls before being clean bowled by Khaled Ahmed.
Shakib recently came from England following an eye check-up as he was feeling discomfort with it in the recent past.
It was reported that Shakib had blurred vision on one side of his left eye due to stress and it had a huge impact on his batting.
According to medical science, the eye is considered an extension of the brain and so when stress affects the brain it also in turn affects the eyes and the vascular system. When stress hormones are released, they can directly impact vision. Chronic stress increases risk for high blood pressure and it thickens blood vessels while restricting blood flow to the retina. This is known as hypertensive retinopathy and the symptoms include double vision and blurred or reduced vision.
Though Shakib did not looked to be in trouble during the practice session ahead of the game on January 19 but according to skipper Nurul Hasan he is still struggling.
“Shakib is a very important part of our team. He still has been struggling with his eye issues in recent times. The doctors will be able to say better,” Nurul told reporters following their loss to Barishal on Saturday.
