Comilla Beat Khulna By 34 Runs

Comilla Victorians’ Pakistani pacer Aamer Jamal became the first bowler to clinch a five-fer in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League and his lethal bowling performance helped his side register a 34-run win over Khulna Tigers during their sixth match in Mirpur on Wednesday.

Jamal finished with a career-best bowling performance of 5-23 while left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam also claimed 2-29 as Comilla defended their score of 149-7 quite comfortably as they bowled their opponents all out for 115 runs in 18.5 overs.

Aamer, who came to bowl his first over during the ninth over of Khulna innings, removed Evin Lewis (10) before he trapped Mohammad Nawaz (seven) in his second over.

The 27-year-old pacer then removed Ashraf (13) and Nahidul Islam (21) in his third over before he dismissed Nasum (0) in this final over to create a chance of bowling Khulna all out before they touched the 100-run mark.

This was Comilla’s fourth win in the ongoing edition and they jumped to third position with eight points from six matches.

Meanwhile, Khulna, which have now lost two consecutive matches after winning all their four opening games, slipped to fourth place for having less net run rate despite having the same eight points from six matches as Comilla.
