Strikers Ended Their BPL Campaign On A High
Sylhet Strikers completed the ongoing 10th Bangladesh Premier League on a high as they beat Khulna Tigers by six wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Batting first, Khulna sent Afif Hossain out to open and he managed to score a 35-ball 52 but he received little to no support from his teammates as they ended on 128-8.
Wayne Parnell was the only other batter to go past 20 as he scored 21.
Benny Howell picked up three wickets for Sylhet, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Shafiqul Islam picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Sylhet lost opener Zakir Hasan (0) in the first over and Kennar Lewis (5) within the power play but Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored 39, and Yasir Ali Rabbi brought them back with a 70-run partnership for the third wicket.
After Shanto’s dismissal, Yasir also missed out on a fifty as he scored 46.
However, skipper Mohammad Mithun (19*) and Howell (12*) took Sylhet home with two overs to spare.
The match turned into a dead rubber after Fortune Barishal became the final team to qualify for the playoffs in the first game of the day as both teams no longer had any chance of qualification.
This win did not change Sylhet’s position on the table as they ended sixth with 10 points, while Khulna also finished on 10 points at fifth.
