Taijul Not Worried To Qualify For Play-Off As Fourth Team

Fortune Barisal spinner Taijul Islam feels that if they are destined to be the champions in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournament it will be the case, eventually.

Captain Tamim Iqbal led from the front as Fortune Barishal confirmed the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) playoffs as the fourth and last team after beating Comilla Victorians by six wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

Barishal’s victory effectively ruined Khulna Tigers’ hopes to give a shot to playoffs. Khulna will take on Sylhet Strikers in the last match of the BPL group phase today, but the match turns out to be an inconsequential one.

“It is not a matter that we are going as number four and there is no problem with that if number one is written in our fate we might become that,” Taijul told reporters following their win over Comilla Victorians at SBNS.

Taijul added that playing in SBNS before the play off will help them as they are well aware of what to expect from the wicket at the home of cricket.

“Certainly it is advantageous that we have played in Dhaka because when you are playing in a new wicket the players think what will happen in the wicket and you understand the wicket of Mirpur when what will happen no one knows so from that point there is always some kind of tension,” said Taijul.

“I think the wicket was a good one and because the wicket was good this runs could be chased and because the runs were chased certainly this is a good wicket,” he said.
