I Had Lot Of Good Memories in Bangladesh – Whatmore
Dave Whatmore, former Bangladesh head coach, said that he is happy to get back to Bangladesh as he have fond memories while added that BPL can be a big platform to promote youngster.
“It’s always good (to come back in Bangladesh). It really is good to land in airport where there is so many familiar faces it is little embarrassing when I don’t know the name but the faces I know the name sometimes eludes me but it’s always wonderful to return to Bangladesh as it is a place where I had fond memories and lot of good memories,” Whatmore told reporters following a practice session at the BCB Academy premises recently.
“This is your premier T20 tournament and this is vastly important as it exposes lot of juniors here and lot of younger ones as well as the seniors and it accelerates the development like playing in front of big crowds the television and against some very good international players so it is very important tournament,” he said.
Whatmore, who was the head coach of Bangladesh side that played the World Cup in 2007 which marked the arrival of cricketers like Mashrafee bin Mortaza, Shakib al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal among others, is currently in Bangladesh to guide the Fortune Barisal in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament.
Whatmore said that the country is reaping the fruits of funding directed into development by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
