Comilla Bag Fifth Straight Win 

Defending champions Comilla Victorians bagged their fifth straight win in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 after beating Khulna Tigers by seven-wicket at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Wednesday night.

Comilla’s Tawhid Hridoy was the star performer of the match as he struck an unbeaten 91 off 47 balls while Jaker Ali also remained not out on 40. 

Chasing a target of 165 runs, Comilla were reduced to 84-3 in the eighth over but an unbroken partnership of 84 runs off 54 balls between Hridoy and Jaker comfortably took the champions to victory.

Earlier, Comilla bowlers took wickets at regular intervals to restrict Khulna to 164-8 in the regulated 20 overs after they elected to bat first.

Khulna’s Caribbean recruit Evin Lewis made the highest 36 off 20 balls while Afif Hossain and Mahmudul Hasan Joy contributed 29 and 28 runs respectively.

Among others, Alex Hales (22), Anamul Haque Bijoy (18) and Wayne Parnell (20) also got good starts but their failure to make these into big ones cost them dearly at the batting paradise wicket in Chattogram.

For Comilla, Moeen Ali and Matthew Forde took two wickets each.
