Taskin Not Keen To Prolong His Test Career
Bangladesh pace bowler Taskin Ahmed is all set to quit Test cricket due to his injury as he wants to focus on white-ball cricket to prolong his international cricket career.
“He( Taskin) had sent a letter stating that he does not want to play longer-version cricket. After the game [of the ongoing BPL] is over we will sit with him in this regard,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus was quoted in Cricbuzz on Saturday.
“Let the coach [head coach Chandika Hathurusingha] come and we need to talk with him as well,” he said.
It was learnt that Hathurusingha is aware about the development and asked the pacer, who played 13 Tests so far since his debut on 2017, whether he can change his mind.
BCB’s chief selector Minhajul Abedin is waiting for physicians report to take a decision in this regard as he insisted that Taskin is their across-format contracted player and they will have to talk with board doctors and get a report on his injury status and later can make a decision.
Taskin suffered a tear in his shoulder during the World Cup, which forced him to miss a couple of matches in the global event, played in India last year.
Following the tournament, Taskin was sent to a rehabilitation program to regain full fitness and start competitive cricket again. As a result he missed the two-match Test series at home against New Zealand and the white-ball return tour that followed soon after. Taskin made a comeback in competitive cricket with ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament, for Durdanto Dhaka.
