Even If He Can’t See, He Can Still Be Out To Bowl – Neesham On Shakib
Rangpur Riders Kiwi all-rounder Jimmy Neesham insisted that even the talismanic all-rounder Shakib al Hasan can bowl even if he can’t see with both eyes.
“I watched him a couple of nights ago and I think it might be helping him. Maybe having one eye makes it easier,” Neesham, who is playing his maiden BPL season this year, told reporters at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram when he was asked about Shakib’s eye problem.
“He is obviously a fantastic cricketer. I don’t know what’s going on with his eyes. To be honest, this is the first time I heard about it.
“Whatever he is doing he needs to keep doing because it seems to be working. Even if he can’t see, he can still be out to bowl. He will still be good,” he said, adding that he’s hopeful that Shakib will continue his form in the coming matches as well,” he said.
Shakib, who struggled during the earlier phase of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League with the bat due to his eye problem, made a spectacular comeback in the recent matches and contributed to his side’s winning cause both with the bat and ball.
The 36-year-old, who made 2, 2 and 0 in his opening three outings with the bat, scored 34, 27 and 69 runs in his latest three BPL innings for Rangpur respectively.
During his blistering 31-ball 69-run innings against Khulna Tigers where he smashes six sixes and as many fours on Tuesday, Shakib also completed his fifty off just 20 balls – the fastest fifty in this year’s BPL.
The all-rounder, who has a strike rate of 178.66 in the ongoing meet, also has taken 13 wickets making him the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing competition so far and he is in the leading position to clinch the player of the tournament award that he won four times in the past.
