I Always Try To Remain Simple Whatever It Is, Bad Or Good – Towhid Hridoy
Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy is enjoying the purple patch of his career in the Bangladesh Premier League. The youngster, who is playing for the defending champions, the Comilla Victorians, was spotted struggling with his bat in the early part of the ongoing 10th BPL, but eventually overcame it by hitting a 53-ball 100 against Durdanto Dhaka, which was the first in this edition of the nation’s T20 extravaganza, and also remained unbeaten on 91 in the next game over the Khulna Tigers, which fueled him to become the most run-getter as of yet of the meet with 341 from the nine games. However, he admitted that the accolades couldn’t make him overly excited, as he always remains simple.
Q. You are enjoying the purple patch of your career. So, how much are you? relishing the outing?
Towhid: First of all, I want to show my gratitude to the almighty. Whatever happened was great.
Q. You are the highest run scorer thus far in the meet and hit the first hundred in this season of the nation’s lone franchise T20 tournament, along with a blistering 90+ knock in the last game. How was the feeling of the first hundred among a substantial number of power hitters?
Towhid: Good, I must say. I have also said earlier that I always try to remain simple, whatever it is, bad or good. I don’t have any reason to be overly excited.
Q. Bangladesh team management has been looking into a stroke player for a long time. Do you think that you are that guy who can help Bangladesh conquer the earth?
Towhid: It is really difficult to predict right now. However, I will try my best to help my side whenever I get the opportunity. Perhaps you have noticed that I am always keen to contribute the most for my team, whether it be the national team, in BPL, DPL, or first-class cricket.
Q. Would you please let us know the name of your mentor who is fueling you to improve your batting?
Towhid: Look, my batting is the same as earlier. There wasn’t any significant change. Maybe you are saying this because I couldn’t score runs in the past few games. Now you are lauding me and asking the name of my coach because I am scoring runs. This is not an accusation; I am not accusing you, media, because this is the law of nature. It is also normal that each player will not be performing each day. But I will say from my side that it was really great that it happened to me as of yet. I will try to continue the momentum.
Q. You have been roped in both in the ODI and T20I series against the touring Sri Lanka, which has been termed the ultimate build-up for the ICC T20 World Cup. What is your plan for the approaching home series?
Towhid: I didn’t design a plan for the series yet, to be honest, as right now I am featuring in the BPL and we have a lot more games to go. I will start planning immediately before going into the series.
Q. How much your batting will help the Comilla Victorians defend their title since you have contributed vastly in their past two wins?
Towhid: Look, only my batting would be substantial enough to retain the title. Since it’s a team game, I believe that everyone on my team will need to contribute to this connection. And if you take a look at our team, we are all performing here. Our side is not dependent on an individual. And of course, I am doing what I am required to do. I am just trying to play my role here.
Q. Give us a glimpse of the environment in Comilla’s dressing room following your robust hundred?
Towhid: Winning the game was more important to me than smashing the hundred, to be honest with you, as the situation of the match was not that easy to win the game. To me, earning the victory was significant.
Q. You became the head of the newspapers for a couple of days on the trot. How is the feeling?
Towhid: In fact, I barely follow this sort of heading, as you media commonly write the negatives about us rather than the positives, and the negatives affect our performance. So I always try to omit the media.
