Mustafizur’s Return To BPL Uncertain After Head Injury Setback
During a practice session with his Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) squad, the Comilla Victorians, left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman encountered a head injury at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, casting doubts on his future participation in the tournament.
Mustafizur was swiftly taken to a hospital for a scan, which fortunately indicated no internal bleeding. However, he remains under continuous observation.
Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician of the medical department at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), mentioned that Mustafizur’s continuation in the BPL will depend on the outcome of the observation period.
“At Imperial Hospital, a member of the BCB medical team is providing care to Mustafizur, in coordination with the BCB. If necessary, he will be transferred to Dhaka,” Debashish explained.
Meanwhile, the Comilla team’s physiotherapist, S M Zahidul Islam Sazal, verified that Mustafizur received stitches for his head injury.
Debashish indicated that recovery from such injuries typically takes around a week. In the current BPL season, Mustafizur has participated in nine matches, securing 11 wickets.
Comilla, aspiring to retain their championship title, currently holds a position among the top four teams in the BPL standings. Mustafizur’s potential absence would be a significant setback for Comilla.
