I Just Felt Different – Mayers On ZACS Return
West Indian Kyle Mayers said on Saturday that he is happy to return at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium that announced his arrival on the world map, courtesy his double hundred on Test debut against Bangladesh in 2021.
Fortune Barishal Mayers came up with a match winning all-round performance against Sylhet Strikers at the ZACS on Saturday, making 31 ball-48 before taking 3-12 to script Barishal’s sixth victory out of 10 matches.
“Great memories coming here as last time I played here, I scored a double hundred and so happy to come back,” he said, adding that the moment he entered the field he was having a special feeling inside him.
“I just felt different when I got up today and in training. Obviously, there are some good memories here and when I went to the nets and I feel I had my best net session yesterday (Friday). I had been practising for a while and I felt I wasn’t hitting the mark but yesterday everything just clicked, so that helped,” he said adding that batters need to take their time before coming out of the shackles.
“I think it’s a good batting surface. Kind of slow but the outfield is really fast. You need to take your time and just time the balls here and you’ll get good value for your shots so I really enjoy batting here. On other grounds, you might have to use a bit more power,” he concluded.
