Shoriful Islam Aims to Extend Last Year’s Brilliance into BPL Campaign

Pace bowler Shoriful Islam is determined to solidify his position as Bangladesh’s leading pacer by carrying forward his exceptional form from the previous year into the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), commencing on January 19.

Having spearheaded the Bangladesh bowling attack in the absence of key players like Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful expressed confidence in maintaining his last year’s impressive performance during a press interaction.

With Bangladesh facing a hectic international schedule, including the T20 World Cup, Shoriful views a strong BPL showing as a crucial precursor to success in upcoming matches.

“BPL will help a lot since the T20 World Cup is ahead. This is our prime T20 tournament. Everyone wants to draw attention by performing well here. I think the tournament will benefit us in preparing for the T20 World Cup,” Shoriful remarked, emphasizing the tournament’s significance in T20 preparations.

Acknowledging the workload concerns for fast bowlers due to the packed schedule, Shoriful remains mindful of maintaining his fitness. With ambitions to contribute significantly to the national team, he aims to play as many matches as possible while staying fit.

Shoriful, representing Durdanto Dhaka in the BPL alongside Taskin Ahmed, envisions a collaborative effort with his teammate to make a substantial impact. Their collective goal is to reach the playoffs and, if successful, compete in the final. Shoriful highlighted the importance of local players stepping up, emphasizing the potential contributions of teammates like Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Irfan Shukkur, Saif Hassan, and Naim Sheikh in achieving team success.
