Will Shakib Play In DPL?

Will Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan play for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL), the Dhaka-club-based list A tournament, beginning from 9 March?

SJDC signed Shakib for two seasons that will start with the forthcoming DPL. Shakib is not included in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka that will take place after the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament.

It is understood Shakib is planning to play in the DPL to get back into his rhythm as a batsman considering he was finding trouble to bat in the recent past due to his eye problem and only got into some sort of form in the last couple of games in the BPL for Rangpur Riders.

A club official told a local media on Friday that Shakib told them he is available for DPL.

“He has said that he is available, but the decision belongs to him. He is still not fully fit, but he wants to play a few domestic games before he starts playing international games,” said the club official.

But he has started to get runs while BPL is entering into the final stages, though he will not participate in the Tigers’ home series against Sri Lanka due to his persistent eye problem, beginning from 4 March.
