Tanzid Ton Confirms Playoffs For Chattogram 

Tanzid Tamim smashed his maiden T20 ton to help Chattogram Challengers bag a 65–run win over Khulna Tigers and to confirm a spot into the playoffs of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday. 

Electing to bat first, Chattogram scored 192-4 in the stipulated 20 overs, courtesy of the left-handed opener Tanzid’s 65-ball 116 which featured eight sixes and as many fours. He made a 56-run partnership with Shykat Ali for the second stand with the latter scoring 18 off 17 before being out by West Indies recruit Jason Holder. 

Then, Tanzid partnered with Tom Bruce for the third wicket. The duo added for 110 off 61, before Tanzid was sent back by Wayne Parnell. 

Bruce who was unbeaten on 26 off 23 with two fours and as many sixes led the late onslaught to help the side reach an indomitable position.

Nasum Ahmed and Mukidul Islam also bagged one wicket each for Khulna. 

In reply, Khulna skipper Anamul Haque Bijoy, who scored a 24-ball 35 hitting five fours and one six which is also the highest of the team, off to a decent start. After Parvez Hossain Emon was dismissed cheaply, Bijoy and Shai Hope formed a 54-run partnership, raising the bar for Khulna, only to be diminished when Bijoy and Evin Lewis who was trapped out were removed in quick succession.

Chattogram captain Shuvagata Hom who claimed 3-25 then took the wicket of Hope after he made 31 off 21. 

Jason Holder was the other batter with double digit figures as he made 18. Pace bowler Bilal Khan, the Oman recruit, grabbed 2-13 to complement Shuvagata.

The victory not only propelled Chattogram to playoffs but also took Comilla Victorians to the last-four as both of the teams now have 14 points each with Comilla in the second spot following a better run rate.

On the other side, Khulna, who reached the brink of an exit, now would have to win their match against Sylhet Strikers and hope Fortune Barishal lose their match against Comilla Victorians.
