Sylhet Strikers Misery Continues
In-form Chattogram Challengers inflicted more misery on hosts Sylhet Strikers after they clinched a crushing eight-wicket win during their fifth Bangladesh Premier League match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Chattogram bowlers demonstrated a disciplined bowling performance on the day after Sylhet chose to bat first and Chattogram’s Omani pacer Bilal Khan claimed 3-24 to restrict the host side to a mediocre total of 137-4 in their 20 overs.
For Sylhet, Harry Tector made the highest 45 off 42 balls while Ryan Burl (34 not out) and Zakir Hasan (31) also made some noteworthy contributions.
Chattogram then lost their in-form opener Avishka Fernando (17) in the fourth over but Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Tom Bruce shared an 89-run stand for the second wicket to take their side close to the victory.
Tanzid departed after he made 50 off 40 balls but Bruce continued his good work with the bat and scored an unbeaten 51 off 44 balls to hand Sylhet fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament.
Meanwhile, with this win, Chattogram also moved to the top of the points table with eight points after they registered four wins in five matches.
