Sylhet Apologise To Journalists
The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Sylhet Strikers on Thursday asked for an apology to the media through a press release as their English all-rounder Samit Patel misbehaved with a journalist.
The 39-year-old not only misbehaved with a journalist, also threw some bad comments regarding Bangladeshi players and media.
The franchise stated: “During the practice session, an unwanted event took place between a journalist and our foreign cricketer Samit Patel. Our Manager Nafees Iqbal and Media and Commercial Manager Minhaz Uddin Khan responded to the matter immediately. After realising his mistake, Samit later apologised to the media persons.
He promised to be careful to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. The Sylhet Strikers management always understands the importance of media. All cricketers and staff of the team are also warned not to be involved in such an incident with the media persons in future.”
The incident happened during Sylhet’s practice session at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium’s outer field on Thursday morning after Samit gave an interview to a journalist.
After the end of the interview, Samit reacted harshly to the journalist as he felt offended by some of his questions and asked him to delete the audio. Later, the former England national cricketer uttered some inappropriate words targeting Bangladeshi media and players as well.
