“Sweepologist” Ross Excited To Be Part Of BPL

BPL newcomers Durdanto recently signed Australian, who is known as “Sweepologist” in his own backyard for his love for sweep shots, attended his first practice session at the BCB Academy Premises as they prepare ahead of their game against Chattogram Challengers, scheduled at SBNS on January 22.

Australian middle-order batsman Alex Ross said on Sunday that he is confident that his collection of sweep shots will help him in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament. 

BPL newcomers Durdanto recently signed Australian, who is known as “Sweepologist” in his own backyard for his love for sweep shots, attended his first practice session in Bangladesh at the BCB Academy Premises on Monday as they prepare ahead of their game against Chattogram Challengers, scheduled at SBNS today.

“Definitely( sweep will help) as I just did little practice out there and it(sweep) was helping a lot the ball spinning so much and some balls are not spinning. The condition is different and having my sweep shots ready and there will be lots of sweep,” said Ross following the training session.

“It’s a hard one to live up to sometimes it feels that you need to sweep everything it was something given to me by Damien Fleming the bowlologist. It’s nice to be known for something but it will be a shock if I rely heavily on it in Bangladesh,” he said adding that he is happy to have some time in the middle.

“I am very excited. It all happened really quickly for me but yeah really excited to be part of it. I have watched it (BPL) a little bit on TV and watched the game the other night from the flight and the boys played really well so I am excited to join the team now,” he said.
