Our Overall Performance Was Not Good – KT Skipper Anamul
Khulna Tigers skipper Anamul Haque said that the long gap between matches and middle order failure made them pay in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournament.
Khulna won four games in a row and later slipped as managed to earn only one win from the following seven games.
Fortune Barishal will book their place for the second qualifier against Chattogram Challengers if they beat Comilla Victorians in their last group phase at the SBNS on February 23.
Even if Barishal lose they could still qualify given their NRR( net run rate) is higher compared to Khulna Tigers and the NRR scenario for Tigers would depend on the first game result between Victorians and Barishal provided the latter lose ideally by a significant margin to open a gat for Tigers to play beyond the group phase.
“In T20 you have to think match by match and certainly we shouldn’t have lost this game and if we were two points ahead something else could have happened. We were winning matches in a row but the momentum shifted like this. Later we could not execute as well as we should have and overall our performance was not good,” said Anamul.
“In big tournaments such things happen like some will win and some will lose. We had a long break and that was harmful for the team and we never expected that and we lost there. We should have won one or two matches by that time. In the last seven matches we could win only one game and our middle-order batting was not very strong and in the top order at times it clicked and at times it didn’t. If we could bat properly in the middle overs in that case the result would have been different,” he said.
