Never Imagined Of a Hat-trick – Shoriful 

Durdanto Dhaka pacer Shoriful Islam on Friday said that he never believed that he will pick up hat-trick against Comilla Victorians in the opening game of Bangladesh Premier League, country’s lone franchise-based T2- tournament, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday. 

Shoriful, who conceded 15 runs in his first three overs, was hit for two consecutive sixes by Khushdil Shah in the last over of Comilla innings.

He later removed Khushdil (13) and later took two more wickets of Roston Chase (0) and Mahidul Islam Ankon (0) in successive deliveries to complete his maiden hat-trick at any level of the game.

“After conceding two sixes, I was thinking about how to keep the runs in check. My target was to bowl dot deliveries,” pacer Shoriful said following the game. 

“I thought that I had three balls and had the chance to come back well but never thought of a hat-trick,” he said adding that experienced duo Taskin Ahmed and Mosaddek Hossain helped him to earn his maiden hat-trick as they instructed him to bring a change in pace in the final over.

“After conceding two sixes, Taskin bhai and Mosaddek bhai told me the same thing – to change the pace of the bowling. Because there was an extra bounce in the wicket,” he said.

Shoriful became only the seventh bowler (fourth Bangladeshi) to claim a hat-trick in the BPL history.

Shoriful added that he was happy to achieve such a feat in front of his family, who came to the stadium for the first time to see him playing.

“It’s a great feeling. My family came for the first time and I claimed a hat-trick. I didn’t think of a hat-trick but I thought that I had three more balls to bowl. I thought I could have made a comeback and taken a wicket. But hat-trick (didn’t imagine),” he concluded.
