Khulna Stuns Barishal
Khulna Tigers secured a big 8-wicket win over Fortune Barishal in their second match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2024 (BPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on this freezing Monday night.
Khulna skipper Anamul Haque made an unbeaten 63 off 44 balls while Evin Lewis struck added 53 off 22 balls as Khulna reached 188-2 in 18 overs to hand Barishal their first defeat in the ongoing meet.
Anamul and Lewis put up 77 runs in just 5.2 overs in the opening stand while chasing a target of 188 runs before Lewis was dismissed by Barishal’s Pakistani recruit Mohammad Imran.
Anamul made 75-run partnership with Afif Hossain (41) to take his side close to the victory before Afif’s was dismissed by Imran.
Anamul then made another 36-run partnership with Shai Hope, who contributed an unbeaten 25 off 10 balls, to guide Khulna victory with two overs to spare.
Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim smashed a brillant 68 off 39 balls while Barishal skipper Tamim Iqbal scored 40 runs as Barishal posted 187-4 in 20 overs after they were sent into bat first.
Meanwhile, Barishal will face holders Comilla Victorians on Tuesday at the same venue.
