It Would Be Comforting For Us Not To Face Players Like Shakib Bhai”

Sylhet Strikers batter Zakir Hasan said on Sunday that they are relieved as will not be facing Rangpur Riders Shakib al Hasan in their next BPL game.

Shakib’s Rangpur Riders on January 23 will play their next match against Strikers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

However, the all-rounder will miss the match as he went to Singapore for eye treatment.

“Of course, it would be comforting for us not to face players like Shakib bhai. However, we still need to play well. Regardless of the team or the players, we need to perform well in order to win matches,” Zakir told reporters on Sunday

Shakib scored just two runs against Fortune Barisal before was bowled by Khaled Ahmed in their opening game of the ongoing BPL but showcased his bowling prowess by claiming 2 wickets for 16 runs in four overs.

It was earlier reported Shakib had eye issue during the ICC World Cup, while in the recent past he went to London to have a check up before returning to Dhaka on January 18.

Zakir added that he is overwhelmed to have Mashrafee in their side.

“Actually, Mashfare bhai’s presence is an inspiration for us. Because when he is present, many decisions become much easier, in my opinion. That is very important for us,” he added
