India Has Begin The World-Cup Warm Ups Against New Zealand
Less than 72 hours following the conclusion of their three-match ODI series in Rajkot, India and Australia are set to gear up for the final prelude to the World Cup, engaging in warm-up clashes against England and Netherlands, respectively, on September 30.
Pakistan’s warm-up fixture against New Zealand is slated for September 29, while South Africa will face Afghanistan. Bangladesh is scheduled to play against Sri Lanka.
India will head to Guwahati for their initial warm-up, while Australia will travel down south to Trivandrum. These teams, along with Afghanistan and New Zealand, have arranged warm-up matches in various cities.
In contrast, the remaining six teams will be stationed in one city each for their warm-up fixtures. Hyderabad will be the host for Pakistan, while Guwahati will welcome England, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The coastal town of Trivandrum will accommodate Netherlands and South Africa.
The warm-up phase will conclude with India and Pakistan facing Netherlands and Australia, respectively, on the final day, October 3. Subsequently, the teams will head to their designated venues for their opening matches of the tournament. All warm-up games are scheduled as day-night fixtures commencing at 2 pm local time, with all 15 members of the playing squad eligible to participate.
The captains’ event is set for October 4, a day before the official start of the tournament on October 5 in Ahmedabad. The tournament will kick off with defending champions England facing off against 2019 runners-up New Zealand. Hosts India will begin their campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8.
The ICC also disclosed the official ticketing partners and confirmed the pre-sale of tickets for the tournament starting from August 24, 42 days ahead of the tournament’s commencement.
