In Cricket You Got To Make Mistakes- Miller

South African David Miller said on Sunday that playing leagues at different parts of the world often take a toll on his body.

Miller played the SA T20 before coming here to Bangladesh to play the BPL with Fortune Barishal  as they prepare to take Chattogram Challengers in the eliminator match at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on February 26.

“Tomorrow I am really looking forward to quarterfinals and it’s gonna be a big game and the guys played really really well. For me coming in so late, just want to add as much as I can to the team. Make sure the younger guys are learning off me and I am learning off them and making sure we play good cricket,” Miller told reporters at the SBNS on Sunday.

“Yea it’s a lot of demand and stuff on the body but you need to know how your body ticks and what your body needs. I don’t want to train too hard today. It was a couple throws and just feeling getting bat and ball, getting used to the conditions in the nets and obviously getting to know the guys as well as I have only arrived this morning. So it’s more for me to just get to know the team a lot better. Takes a while to do that and I have only been here for two hours. Looking forward to tomorrow’s game and I think it’s about understanding your body,” Miller told reporters at the SBNS on Sunday.

“Over time you understand your game a lot better. In T20s things happen very quickly and there a lot of different situations you find yourself in. It’s just making sure I am sticking to what works for me for the beginning of my innings. Just finding out the conditions, run-rate required and making sure I am comfortable before I actually get going. Sometimes I go in with just three overs to go and I have to go straightaway. Every situation is different.”

The left-hander is set to tie the knot on the March 9 and been busy with plans. He acknowledged that he could not watch BPL live telecasts but been checking standings.

“In cricket you gotta make mistakes. Things are going to happen so it’s about making sure you learn from your mistakes as early as possible. You never going to succeed all the time because this game is very difficult. Just making sure they are true to themselves and train really hard and enjoy the game.”
