I Dedicate My Century To My Mother – Hridoy

Defending champions Comilla Victorians batsman Towhid Hridoy dedicated his maiden T20 hundred in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League against Durdanto Dhaka to his mother.

Hridoy struck a sensational hundred to help Comilla Victorians clinch a four-wicket win over Durdanto Dhaka in a run-fest BPL match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.

Hridoy struck an unbeaten 108 off 57 balls to become the first batsman to score a hundred in the ongoing 10th edition of BPL to help Comilla chase down Dhaka’s 175 runs in 19.5 overs and move to the second position in the ongoing tournament’s points table.

Hridoy, who completed his maiden T20 hundred by taking a double off Dhaka skipper Taskin Ahmed in the penultimate over, hit the winning run off Dhaka’s new Pakistani recruit Mohammad Irfan to give Comilla their fifth win in the tournament in seven matches.

With such a sublime hundred, the right-hander also became only the sixth Bangladeshi batter and fifth Comilla batter to score a hundred in the BPL history.

“I cannot express it in words. I have been waiting for this day for a long time and for every batsman scoring a century is a dream. The feeling is certainly different for me,” Hridoy told reporters following the game on Friday.

“Last year I had a chance to score a century but could not do it. This time it happened and a century is important for every batsman. In the opening game I got a chance to bat up in the order and out of nowhere today got the chance to bat up in the order and last year I was batting up in the order. Batting in the middle order and up in the order are two different things,” he said.

“Want to thank my coach and captain to provide me a chance of batting up in the order and I tried to seize the opportunity and there was a chance to have a good start and I felt if I could win the game for the team it would be better for me,” he said before adding that he wants to dedicate the century to his sick mother.

“Certainly I want to dedicate this century to my mother today she did not come (in the field) but whenever I am in the field but she is always watching me in the field despite I ask her on several times not to be in front of the TV because when she is watching me she is always having a tension and she says I don’t watch games I only watch you,” he concluded.
