Hridoy’s Superb Hundred Guided Comilla Against Dhaka

Tawhid Hridoy scored a superb hundred to help Comilla Victorians clinch a four-wicket win over Durdanto Dhaka in the Bangladesh Premier League group-phase match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

The right-hander became only the sixth Bangladeshi batter and fifth Comilla batter to score a hundred in the BPL history.

Although Comilla found them in deep trouble after they were reduced to 23-3, Hridoy and Brooke Guest put up an 84-run stand for the fourth wicket to bring their side back in the contest.

Hridoy struck an unbeaten 108 off 57 balls to become the first batsman to score a hundred in the ongoing 10th edition of BPL to help Comilla chase down Dhaka’s 175 runs in 19.5 overs and move to the second position in the ongoing tournament’s points table.

Hridoy, who completed his maiden T20 hundred by taking a double off Dhaka skipper Taskin Ahmed in the penultimate over, hit the winning run off Dhaka’s new Pakistani recruit Mohammad Irfan to give Comilla their fifth win in the tournament in seven matches.

With such a sublime hundred, the right-hander also became only the sixth Bangladeshi batter and fifth Comilla batter to score a hundred in the BPL history.

Earlier, Dhaka posted their highest ever score (175-4) in the ongoing edition after they won the toss and elected to bat first.

Opener Mohammad Naim (64 off 45 balls) and number three Saif Hassan (57 off 42 balls) struck brilliant fifties and they also shared a 119-run stand to set the ideal platform for the rest of the batters for a big total.
