Hathurusingha Enjoys BPL Game With New Chief Selector

Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha met Bangladesh Cricket Board’s newly appointed chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

Hathurusingha’s strained relationship with past chief selector Faruque Hossain saw the latter resign during Sri Lanka’s first stint with Bangladesh as head coach. While Hathurusingha’s relationship with Minhajul Abedin-led selection panel was amicable, this time Lipu has come in with more influence than the past selection panel.

The duo enjoyed Friday’s opening Bangladesh Premier League game between Fortune Barisal and Comilla Victorians together at the BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus’s room. The other members of the selection panel were also present during the meeting.

BCB recently replaced former chief selector Minhajul Abedin with Ashraf while Habibul Bashar was replaced by Hannan Sarkar.

Abdur Razzak, who was part of the previous selection panel, managed to retain his place in the newly formed selection panel.

It is understood that Hathurusingha has been keeping in touch with Ashraf since he was appointed as the chief selector on 12 February during the meeting of the BCB directors.
