Barishal Secures Impressive Victory Against Sylhet with Stellar Performances from Mahmudullah and Imran in BPL 2024

Sylhet Strikers faced yet another loss in the ongoing season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in Sylhet against Fortune Barishal, marking their fifth consecutive defeat in as many matches. Mahmudullah Riyad and Ahmed Shehzad each scored half-centuries for Barishal, while Mohammad Imran’s four-wicket haul played a crucial role in securing their first victory after three successive losses.

Shehzad delivered an impressive inning, scoring 66 runs off 41 balls, comprising nine boundaries and two sixes. Mahmudullah’s outstanding performance was highlighted as he remained unbeaten with a dazzling knock of 51 runs off 24 deliveries, featuring seven boundaries and two sixes. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also made a valuable contribution with a quick 15-run cameo, propelling Barishal to a commanding total.

Benny Howell emerged as the most impactful bowler for Sylhet, taking three wickets for 21 runs during his four-over spell.

In their pursuit of the target, Sylhet encountered a formidable challenge. Despite Zakir Hasan’s commendable effort with 46 runs off 34 balls, featuring four boundaries and two sixes, they could only reach a total of 137 runs before being dismissed in 17.3 overs.

Barishal’s bowling attack proved overwhelming for the Strikers, with Mohammad Imran shining by securing four crucial wickets for 29 runs in his 3.3 overs.

While Sylhet experienced defeats in all five matches, Barishal clinched victories in two out of the five games played so far. Sylhet currently occupies the bottom position on the points table, whereas Barishal holds the fifth spot with four points derived from two wins.
