Bangladesh set to face Ireland in ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup on Today

Bangladesh, a team with past championships, is set to participate in their second Group A encounter of the ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup ’24. They will face Ireland on Today, January 22, at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Despite a five-wicket performance by pacer Maruf Mridha, Bangladesh, the titleholders of 2020, faced a disappointing beginning in the worldwide Youth Cricket, suffering a substantial 84-run defeat against defending champions India in their opening match at Bloemfontein in South Africa on Saturday night.

In a separate Group A encounter on the same day, Ireland had a positive start, securing a seven-wicket victory against the United States at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Nevertheless, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, the captain who is also a left-arm spinner and led the Bangladesh team to secure the inaugural U-19 Asia Cup title, will take charge of the team against Ireland on Today with the aim of restoring their pride and glory.

Following the initial round of matches, Ireland and India emerged as frontrunners in Group A, both accumulating two points each with run rates of +2.674 and +1.680, respectively.

Bangladesh held the 3rd position in the group due to a run rate of -1.680, while the United States occupied the bottom spot with a run rate of 2.680, failing to secure any points.

In the upcoming Group A fixture, Bangladesh is set to face the United States on January 26, at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
