Babar struck a brilliant fifty to help Rangpur Riders clinch their first win in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League after they beat Sylhet Strikers by four wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
Babar, who landed in Dhaka on Monday night, took no time to repay the faith of his franchise as he struck an unbeaten 56 off 49 balls while Azmatuallah Omarzai also made an unbeaten 47 off 35 balls to guide Rangpur to 125-6 in 18.2 overs to hand Sylhet their second consecutive defeat in the tournament.
The pair came together after Sylhet triggered a batting collapse in Rangpur innings by reducing them to 39-6 but their unbeaten stand of 86 runs to take their side to victory with 12 balls to spare.
Babar seemed to be well aware what expect in BPL and planned his innings accordingly that showed the class he possess that force everyone to consider him as one of the best batsman in the world at present.
“I think the biggest challenge here is spin. There are good spin tracks here and everyone here is a quality spinner. Other than that, this is my second time here and first time that I am playing for Rangpur Riders so it’s exciting and looking forward to it,” Babar told T-Sports before going into the field with Riders jersey at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
