Asalanka Replace Hasaranga As T20 Skipper In Opening Two Matches Against Bangladesh

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced on Tuesday that Charith Asalanka will lead as interim skipper in the upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh

SLC announced 17-member squad for Sri Lanka’s upcoming T20 series against Bangladesh.

This decision to make Asalanka as interim skipper was due to the fact regular captain Wanindu Hasaranga’s recent suspension due to a breach of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) code of conduct during the third T20 match against Afghanistan.

Despite Pathum Nissanka being initially included in the squad, he will not be joining the team for the tour as he continues his recovery from an injury sustained during Afghanistan’s recent tour of Sri Lanka.

The series against Bangladesh is scheduled to commence on March 4th, kicking off with a three-match T20 series, followed by a three-match ODI series and concluding with two Test matches.
